Sanrio’s official Japanese character page gives Kuromi’s debut year as 2005 and her birthday as 31 October. She calls herself My Melody’s rival, and her black hood with a pink skull is her signature look.

Kuromi is a Sanrio character. Sanrio’s own character page lists two kinds of goods: Sanrio originals and products made by other companies under a Sanrio licence (marked “Sanrio License”), from cosmetics to fast-food toys.
