What is The Legend of Zelda?
The Legend of Zelda is a Nintendo game series. The first game launched for the Family Computer in Japan in 1986, and Nintendo marked the series’ 40th anniversary in 2026. A live-action film, The Legend of Zelda, produced by Nintendo and Arad Productions and co-financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures, is planned for worldwide release by Sony Pictures on 30 April 2027.
Who licenses Zelda products?
The series is Nintendo IP. For the 40th anniversary, Nintendo named partner products due in spring 2027, including a 1,750-piece LEGO The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – Link & Epona set and a Hasbro electronic Master Sword. Nintendo Stars Inc., the subsidiary Nintendo renamed in August 2025, handles operation, licensing and management of ancillary use for films featuring Nintendo IP, and its release lists the Zelda film among them.
What should buyers check?
State whether the design uses artwork from a particular game or images from the live-action film; film images show actors such as Bo Bragason (Zelda) and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Link) and need approval for that use. Ask which company granted the licence and which categories and countries it covers, and send the artwork, product type, quantity and destination markets.
